A 10-year-old from Inman who visited the Statehouse aptly summed up the frustration of many Kansans. After a tax conference committee meeting was postponed Tuesday morning (the first of four times that day), Coleson Reinecker exclaimed: “You’re not doing anything.” His 9-year-old brother, Nathan, agreed: “We sat here for nothing.” What’s even more frustrating is that each day of the overtime session has cost taxpayers about $43,000. Rep. John Edmonds, R-Great Bend, told the Topeka Capital-Journal that the boys “understand the process.” – Phillip Brownlee
