Opinion Line Extra (June 3)
May we please go a few days without articles about Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner? My goodness. Who cares?
I have never heard of anyone dying as a result of too much sitting. I think doctors have way too much time on their hands trying to invent new ways to die.
I’m pretty fond of clean drinking water. In fact, I don’t know anyone who can live without it.
Just wondering if Westar Energy will request a rate increase to recover its costs for participating in the Riverfest parade. I wouldn’t be surprised.
If lights on help others see motorcycles, why not use the same principles on cars? To those of you who think otherwise: Maybe your bulb is a little dim.
Martin O’Malley can do for the country what he did for Baltimore. What a Democratic Party idea. Sheer brilliance.
Obama claims that the United States is a more respected country today than when he came into office. How delusional can one individual be? We are less respected today than in the history of this country.
In six of the past eight years, including the entire tenure of President Obama, Texans got more out of the federal Treasury than they put in. So much for the Texas “miracle” financed by the rest of the U.S. citizens.
The head of the Transportation Security Administration has been reassigned after a disastrous report on security failures. Inept government employees rarely get fired. They get reassigned to screw up something else. Is it any wonder our government is such a mess?
Unless you’re one of the 1 percent ($900,000-per-year income), you’re committing suicide by voting Republican.
Kansas is suffering from a case of legislative stupidity. That’s when the other states start noticing.
Kansas is now a fiscal and philosophical disaster area, an embarrassment to our country. Wasting valuable time trying to legislate morals, and passing laws to control elections, our Kansas legislators don’t even have the intelligence to comprehend and the morals to care that they were elected to represent all people.
Kansas was just fine until Gov. Sam Brownback and the Legislature passed a free ride for 330,000 business owners. Most already had all the employees they needed, so the savings went for things other than hiring new workers. Tax cuts are the sole reason for our financial problems.
Brownback would veto a rollback of his tax break for small businesses. Farmers have told me that it’s nice to get the break but they don’t really need it. One of them just bought a house in Puerto Rico for winter travel. Another travels to Las Vegas once a month.
Ultraconservatives are against wealth redistribution. But it seems, in Kansas, they are for tax redistribution.
