The Metropolitan Area Planning Department has done good work developing a new Community Investments Plan, which the city and Sedgwick County will use to help guide growth, development and public infrastructure decisions. The current comprehensive plan dates back to 1993 and is outdated. Citizens can view and comment on the new plan using the Activate Wichita website. The plan is also at communityinvestmentsplan.org. Planning Department staff members are available to meet with community groups and organizations. A steering committee will review the public feedback and may make adjustments to the new plan, which likely will be presented to the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, Wichita City Council and Sedgwick County Commission for final approval in July or August. – Phillip Brownlee
