Opinion Line (May 31)
Driving in Wichita is like being a politician in Wichita: Turning left is difficult, dangerous and increasingly impossible.
It is disheartening to navigate through shopping centers’ and retail establishments’ parking lots trying to dodge the holes that look like the surface of the moon. I guess they are just too busy making money to care.
I suppose now that no one is watering his lawn or trees, the water department is losing money and will need another rate increase.
Would our current Sedgwick County Commission, the majority of three, have had the intelligence to fund the Big Ditch flood-control project if it were being discussed today? Keep in mind the huge savings from the floods it has averted.
It appears the “wisdom” of the Kansas Legislature has infected the Sedgwick County Commission. When did you last hear of a good infection?
The Kansas Republican Party, with a rabidly anti-government agenda, has found itself utterly incapable of governing. Who knew?
The tax policies of Gov. Sam Brownback and the Legislature have created animosities that will last for years. Where are reason and understanding?
Isn’t it possible, even likely, that most who voted for the governor did not do it for his tax plan, but against the party that is more often in favor of some things they are vehemently opposed to?
Brownback needs prayerful reconsideration on the tag-renewal changes.
Somehow it seemed appropriate that the governor’s first Uber ride would be in a vehicle with out-of-state license plates.
Concealed-carry on campus will have no more disruption there than concealed-carry everywhere else, which is to say nil. The only change will be that psychopathic spree killers will not have a free-fire zone.
Has anyone else noticed the uncanny similarity of Ted Cruz and Grandpa Munster?
Another languishing economic data point, as the GDP hit the tank again. How about all those added “hope and change” burdens from regulations and Obamacare pressing down like a boot heel on the country?
Can someone please explain to me why someone who made $30 million in 16 months (Hillary Clinton) is even considering running for president?
President Obama is trying to redefine “losing,” just as Bill Clinton tried to redefine “not having sex.”
Republicans can’t say they want less big government interfering in their lives and then criticize Obama for not solving all of the problems in the Mideast. Let the Gulf states spend their own money and sacrifice their young people to fight in Iraq this time.
To men with the big, bushy beards: You don’t look so much like a hipster as you do the Unabomber.
