Kansas elections are like a soap opera

The elections in Kansas are starting to seem like a soap opera or late-night cable program. In the past week there have been news reports about the raid of a strip club, the state ordering the auction of sex toys, and a flood of campaign spending by shadowy third-party groups. Secretary of State Kris Kobach also continued his quest to force Democrats to name a replacement candidate for U.S. Senate, petitioning to intervene in a lawsuit filed by the father of one of Gov. Sam Brownback’s campaign staffers. Meanwhile such oversize personalities as Sarah Palin and Texas Gov. Rick Perry made appearances at campaign events. It almost makes a person wish for the days when Kansas elections were boring. – Phillip Brownlee
