Help Child Advocacy Center reach fundraising goal

The necessity of handling more than 1,800 annual cases of child abuse and neglect with sensitivity and care should be enough to motivate the community to help the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County raise $425,000 by Dec. 15. That’s when the center’s leaders, including executive director Diana Schunn and Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett, say the nonprofit organization has to meet a $500,000 challenge grant. The fundraising already has generated about $3.77 million of the needed $6.5 million, which will enable the center to move all of its investigators, counselors, medical providers and other professionals into one renovated, child-focused facility at the former Lincoln Elementary School. For more information on how to help, and on the center’s Heroes Gala at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Scottish Rite Center, call 316-660-9494 or go to cacsckansas.org. – Rhonda Holman
