Dear Supreme Court justices: If I am forced to participate in or promote that which is against my sincerely held religious beliefs, then you have taken away my freedom of religion.
A veteran from the Vietnam War era, I watched the movies about other wars on Memorial Day. I was reminded of the terrible cost of war. That’s why I detested the unjust war in Iraq, and I pray that we never have another one like that.
Pathetic: More than 100 homes in my neighborhood, and only six American flags flown on Memorial Day. People have $200 for smartphones, but no money for a flag that honors the men and women who died so that this opinion isn’t written in German or Japanese.

You can criticize me as a teacher for having three months off in the summer when you pay the thousands of dollars for continuing education (most summers) and you make sure I don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars out of my own pocket to buy classroom supplies.
It is maddening to make a donation to charities only to receive another request by return mail without a word of thanks. Thank you, KPTS and Kansas Humane Society, for being the exceptions, and for the lovely personal letters of appreciation.
