Plans called for the Heartland Preparedness Center at I-135 and K-96 to include a new city-county law enforcement training center.
Plans called for the Heartland Preparedness Center at I-135 and K-96 to include a new city-county law enforcement training center.

Tuesday’s briefing of the Wichita City Council and Sedgwick County Commission about replacing the joint law enforcement training center raised hopes that the collaboration will continue somewhere – even if not, as once planned, as part of the Heartland Preparedness Center at I-135 and K-96. The leaders will take another 30 days to consider options, which now seem unlikely to include the former Cessna training centers on East 21st Street; setting aside the renovation needs, the buildings are too small for the long term.
