The GOP’s all-out strategy to cast independent Senate candidate Greg Orman as a pal of President Obama is playing out on Kansans’ TV screens, with the Koch-linked Freedom Partners political action committee alone said to be spending $500,000 on two weeks of ads. The reason is bigger than three-term Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., in that Orman could swing the vote for Senate control. But the assault ignores Orman’s 2012 vote for Mitt Romney and other past support for Republicans. In any event, noted Salon’s Jim Newell: “It’s hard to see how he’d be inclined to throw the Senate to the political party that just tried to ruin his life.” – Rhonda Holman
