Opinion Line (Sept. 24)

Raising taxes, including sales taxes, never created a private-sector job.

You can’t trust your vote in Kansas. In 2012 they couldn’t count the ballots right. Now, you turn in a petition to get something on a ballot and they tell you there aren’t enough signatures. Somebody needs to get fired.


All the Democrats need for an effective anti-Roberts commercial is to show a recliner in the middle of a wheat field. That would say volumes.


If Pat Roberts loses this election and Kris Kobach retains his office, it’s a sure bet Kobach will have the results tied up in court for the foreseeable future.


I would like to thank the members of the Kansas Supreme Court for allowing Chad Taylor to remove his name from the ballot. If a man doesn’t want to represent his constituents, he shouldn’t hold public office. Hear that, Kobach? Governor?


It’s imperative that we not send someone to Washington who will just go along with whatever party wins the Senate. Greg Orman, what do you stand for, my friend? Liberal or conservative? I do not trust you.


Do you refuse to vote for Greg Orman or Paul Davis because they are not Republicans? If so, are you ready to see this state go into further decline because you are unwilling to vote for the best person for the job? Vote smart.


Even if Gov. Sam Brownback’s huge tax cut for 190,000 businesses does end up generating 100,000 jobs, those minimum wage jobs could not begin to make up for the lost revenue Kansas has experienced so far.


It’s time for those caught operating a vehicle while impaired to permanently lose their driving privileges with the understanding that if they’re caught again they will serve a long prison sentence.


I didn’t think it would ever happen. I just read the Leonard Pitts column on spanking (Sept. 22 Opinion), and I agreed with the man.


The rendition of the national anthem on “Monday Night Football” by an NYPD officer put a tear in my eye.
