Opinion Line Extra (Sept. 23)

Airline baggage and reservation change fees, bank card withdraw fees, and all things similar do not trickle down. The money is going to pay some CEO to park another Jaguar in the garage. It would be different if were passed back down to the consumer.

Probable cause for arrest can exist even when there is some doubt as to the person’s guilt. It is up to a judge, jury or defendant to determine guilt, not the public or news media.

I cringe when a reporter, referring to an accident that happened to a child, says something such as, “The kid ran into the street and was struck by a car.” Using “kid” sounds uneducated and uncaring. Please use the word “child.”

If a TV show were called “White-ish,” all hell would break loose. Be careful, America, on what you think is politically and ethnically correct.

I saw someone with such apparent extreme intelligence that he had to be an Obama supporter. He was jaywalking on a busy street while staring at a cellphone.

Six years ago when Obama took office, the economy was crashing and the great Bush recession was just getting started. Similar to the question Ronald Reagan used when he ran for president: Are you better off now than you were six years ago?

Where did Kris Kobach get his law degree? I think it was from a box of Cracker Jacks.

I don’t know why we even need the Kansas Legislature anymore. We have the Supreme Court legislating from the bench and the propaganda wing of the Democratic Party (local media) reporting only the side they want the public to hear – not all the facts, like an honest reporter would.

Gov. Sam Brownback needs to fire whoever thought of the ad campaign basically saying, “my parents don’t trust me to drive their combine so vote for me for governor.”

It’s nice to know that Paul Davis was an attorney for the strip club when he reportedly was found by sheriff’s officers in a back room with a woman who was wearing only a G-string. For a Democrat politician this should be an enhancement to his resume.

I’ve never met anyone who is “pro-abortion.” They’re called “pro-choice.” But while you’re changing names to fit your agenda, how about “pro-mind your own business”?

Of course the issue of the Judge Riddel Boys Ranch is relevant. The county said it couldn’t afford $700,000 and closed the ranch, but suddenly has $5.3 million for the zoo project. Bottom line: We apparently care 7.5 times more for elephants than for helping our wayward young men. For shame.

Gas in Hesston is $3.05 and $3.12 in Wichita. Why is this? When are the media going to investigate the price-fixing and gouging going on in Wichita?
