Opinion Line (Sept. 21)
Can I choose when and how much vacation I get? And, can I take it at crunch time to avoid an important decision? I need to run for Congress. Not so I can do something, but so that I can do nothing.
This country is in a mess. The economy stinks. Washington desperately needs fixing. Even the NFL is has gone nuts. But put a flag in front of me and I’ll put my hand over my heart and shout, “God, I love this country!”
Can I expect President Obama’s “stimulus” plan to kick in anytime soon? I’m getting kind of tired of paying out more in taxes on the money in my savings than I am making in interest.
The president’s Middle East and North Africa strategy is to depose dictators throughout the region, even if Islamic extremists take over each country. First it was Egypt, then Libya, and soon to be Syria and Jordan.
We have to fight ISIL on their land before they bring the fight to our land.
Is Christ’s message of nonviolent response to violence irrelevant?
Soon I will be rich when I get the patent for my TV stand barf bag dispenser. Any candidate whose name I don’t recognize gets my vote.
So Kris Kobach is worried that some Democrats will be disenfranchised if there’s no Democrat on the ballot. Who would have thought Kobach would ever be concerned about disenfranchised voters?
Kobach says the Democrats must put a name on the ballot in place of Chad Taylor. The Democrats clearly need to name someone no Democrat ever would vote for. I suggest Charles or David Koch.
In fact, Obama is running in our Senate race. A vote for Greg Orman is a vote for more Obama depression, corruption, confusion and stagnation.
Reading The Eagle article on Chad Taylor and the ballot, I was appalled by the spiteful, childish response of the Republican Party when it apparently does not get its way. Republicans have insulted our Supreme Court and threatened Taylor’s job. I have definitely had enough, haven’t you?
How do you folks like the Democrats’ Chicago-style politics now?
The Wichita City Council wants to raise the sales tax by 1 percentage point to 8.15 percent, so those of us spending every last dime of every paycheck bear the brunt of it and the well-to-do won’t have to pay more property taxes for their fancy houses.
Paying cash from the temporary sales tax is much cheaper than going into long-term debt.
Enjoy your stay in Wichita as you experience an updated airport or zoo. Choose from a multitude of fine hotels and restaurants. Just be careful not to get any river water on you during your stay.
I stopped going to the zoo years ago because of the plight of the large animals, especially the elephants. It broke my heart to see these majestic animals swaying in boredom and looking sad. They should be in a reserve where they can roam and live with family and friends.
