Opinion Line Extra (May 26)

Would someone in Congress please introduce legislation to return Texas to Mexico? After all, we did steal it from them. This important move would increase the average IQ of the U.S. population by at least 20 points.

Why can’t a mail carrier sue the owner of these dogs that bite them? Start doing that and maybe the idiots who own these dangerous dogs will keep them in check or, better yet, get rid of them.

Mail carrier Chad Lubrano: Get an attorney and sue for your pain and suffering. Someone needs to step forward and make the dog owners accountable. Let it begin with you.

All the twisting and turning to balance the Kansas budget in a way that’s “fair to everyone,” when the most logical, prudent and fair move is to repeal the tax exemptions to 330,000 businesses. Repeal the business exemptions, or repeal the governor and his Legislature. Either way is fine with me.

Yes, congratulate the troops for successfully killing an ISIS leader, but make sure to deny that Obama had anything to do with it. However, if the operation had failed, you can bet that Obama would get the blame.

How about letting police departments keep their military gear and stop giving it to the Iraqis, who give it to ISIS every time they run from ISIS?

For once, I agree with the president. We should demilitarize our local police forces.

How come those tough, gun-packing Texans aren’t protecting the people of Waco from the bad guys? Isn’t that the reason they give for carrying guns? Looks like only the police are doing the protecting. Cheap talk, no action.

I wish everyone in this country would keep their guns where kids can’t get hold of them, so all the anti-gun folks won’t have kids accidentally shooting themselves and others for leverage against gun owners and conceal carriers. But most of all to keep everyone safe. Gun safety, not gun control.

More and more, voters in the U.S. put party affiliations ahead of good, old common sense. Nor do they get behind our elected leaders unless they voted for them. This is not what democracy is all about. What I don’t understand is what type of government voters really want.

I thought Obamacare was the cause of health insurance premiums being so high, but after watching some of the funny video shows on television I realize it’s also because of stupid people doing stupid things.

I drove a bus for 10 years and was sad to see fast-food employees with no health care riding to work sick as a dog. You try living with a sickness and no health care. Why do they pick on the poor? They don’t give money to the parties.

When I learned butterflies consider roadkill and dog poop tasty treats, my opinion of them changed – a lot.
