Opinion Line (May 24)
When America faces a common enemy we put our religious, ethnic and ideological differences aside and work as one, which is why we will never be defeated on our home soil. Muslims can’t get past their Shiite and Sunni differences to defeat ISIS. How sad for them and the world.
People of Iraq and Syria: Are you better off now than you were six years ago?
I don’t care about ISIS. The local citizens should defend the countries themselves. We’ve already lost too much money and too many lives. We should stay out.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation divided politically by Obama, with liberty and justice sometimes.
Someone needs to notify Webster’s that the definition of marriage has changed. First the Bible, now the dictionary. What will be next?
Kansas legislators should not get paid for overtime in the session. I didn’t authorize it.
I think that you should not have a vote in state government elections if you do not pay state income taxes.
I’m pretty sure that any representative in Topeka who votes for a tax hike will be looking for a new job come the next election. Let them know how you feel.
The more I hear about “Sunshine Sam” Brownback and his gang, the more I think about Richard (“I am not a crook”) Nixon and his Watergate gang.
If it seems too complicated to use two cellphones, the governor should make some labels: “P” is for private and “K” is for Kansas. Unless the real reason is that he wants privacy about public affairs. Maybe he, instead of the police, needs to wear a body camera.
Did The Eagle editorial board devote an editorial to criticizing Hillary Clinton for using a private e-mail and then erasing her server, or does its open government scrutiny only apply to Gov. Sam Brownback?
The conservative governor of Kansas won just like the liberal president of the country won, on a thin margin. Both sides have to live through four years of agony or jubilation. I’m jubilant for our state that we have one for our ideals. We did win. Let him govern.
As a lifelong Republican, even I am disgusted by the shallow and obvious way the Kansas secretary of state is trying to manipulate elections. Prosecutorial power for election “fraud” now – what’s next?
Not honoring the people of Wichita on the marijuana vote has confirmed that elections, from local to national, just aren’t free and fair. Thank you, Kansas, for proving me correct. I will never vote again.
Wow – Sedgwick County commissioners actually did it (“County ends agreement with GWEDC,” May 21 Local & State). Roll up the welcome mats, as business and industry are no longer welcome in Sedgwick County. Good luck.
June 3 is the scheduled opening date for both the Wichita Eisenhower National Airport terminal and Costco. I predict a bigger crowd at Costco.
