Opinion Line (Sept. 19)

It only makes sense that the elephant exhibit will remain, and be enlarged. Actually, most of the wild areas for large wildlife are long gone. Only a few small, unconnected parks remain. More and more of the (our) Earth is being covered with houses and concrete.


The Democrat and two RINOs on the County Commission said with their votes that they think a building for elephants is more important than a building for boys who need a second chance.


Money for elephants versus money for boys? Boys are not going extinct.


We are taxed when we earn money, save money and spend money. An increase of the sales tax is ridiculous. Be good stewards of the money coming in, which is quite a lot.


One thing good about the rough streets in Wichita is they are so bad the cops have had to slow way down to just 10 to 15 mph over the speed limit.


Since the U.S. Supreme Court declared corporations are citizens, I nominate Koch Industries for governor. That way policy would come straight from the source and eliminate the useless middlemen.


For 50 bucks and a sales tax exemption, I’d be willing to put a Brownback sign in my yard.


So the Democrat hierarchy wanted to ignore the primary process and switch to the well-financed candidate. Strange that it can accuse the Republicans of letting money influence elections.


A vote for Greg Orman is a vote for Barack Obama.


Having Obama as president has been like living with the AC out, the plumbing clogged, low water pressure and intermittent power outages all at once.


If you vote for an incumbent, you just want more of the same. Shame on you.


The reason people don’t go out and vote? Who wants to take the time to stand in line every time asking yourself: “Who is the lesser of two evils?” By the time Election Day arrives, we are sick of the commercials and sick of the candidates.


It amazes me that these terrorists actually believe that killing innocent hostages will make us fear them. That is like knocking Matt Dillon’s hat off. And the results are going to be the same. They will end up face down in the dirt.


Did we learn nothing from the Vietnam War? We cannot win a limited war. Either go to war to win, or stay out.
