Orman and Royals surging in the polls
Greg Orman, an independent candidate for U.S. Senate, isn’t the only one surging in the polls; so are the Kansas City Royals. Orman leads Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., 41 to 34 percent in the latest survey by Public Policy Polling. Not long ago he was a distant third in a four-way race. Meanwhile, the bandwagon effect is gathering fans of the Royals, which are battling for first place in the American League Central. In February, 49 percent of those surveyed by PPP said they were Royals fans. Now it’s 62 percent. But there is still doubt about how far the team will go: 45 percent predicted the Royals would make the playoffs but not win the American League pennant; 25 percent thought they would win the pennant but not the World Series; 13 percent thought they would win it all. – Phillip Brownlee
