Opinion Line (May 19)

Until people quit watering their grass in the rain and wasting our most valuable resource, Wichita will always have a water problem. It amazes me how stupid people really are.

B.B. King has left the stage. Rest in peace.

Democrats are after Jeb Bush about the Iraq War. Why not ask what he would have done about Vietnam? Congress voted for war in 2002. If it hadn’t, there would have been no war. It would be nice if Democrats would improve themselves instead of tearing down the opposition.

Hillary Clinton is running this campaign incognito. There’s a rumor that on the ballots her name will appear as “HRC.”

I think it would be a great idea for Kansans to fly the Kansas flag upside down in distress mode until our Legislature and governor get their act together.

So the Legislature may mandate that the rest of us pay higher taxes so owners of small businesses can continue not to pay any income taxes. And I here thought Republicans were opposed to income redistribution.

To the person looking for an admitted Brownback voter: Here I stand. Your search can finally end.

Ever notice how in many states that allow the lottery, the first thing they tell people is that money will help the schools? Then you find the teachers buying school supplies with their own money.

I hate beer, so I don’t care whether I can buy it at a grocery store. When I do need to pick up my monthly bottle of wine, I have no problem taking an extra five minutes to do it so the small liquor store I buy it from stays in business.

It may never be known how much pain, suffering, financial loss and death were prevented when state lawmakers prevented more outlets from selling hard liquor.

Many thanks to The Eagle and reporter Suzanne Perez Tobias for the article about Col. Gail Halvorsen and Dagmar Snodgrass (May 15 Eagle). Reading it was a perfect way to begin the day.

A reader said The Eagle is “nothing more than a shill for the Democrat Party.” I disagree, as I believe the views expressed in the Opinion section represent an excellent cross section of conservative, moderate and liberal thinking.

Of The Eagle’s newest comics, I like “Frazz,” “Dustin” and “Red and Rover.” I liked “Get Fuzzy,” too, but it was too dependent on reruns.

“Frazz” is apparently not mean enough or is too subtle for some people. I love “Frazz.”
