Koch network spending is ‘absolutely breathtaking’

A half-dozen groups with ties to Charles and David Koch have funded almost 44,000 political ads aimed at helping Republicans take control of the Senate, according to a new report from the Center for Public Integrity and the Kantar Media Group/CMAG. Americans for Prosperity alone ran more than 27,000 ads from Jan. 1, 2013, through Aug. 31, 2014, in nine battleground states. North Carolina has seen the most spending, with about 8,600 ads so far. “Those numbers are absolutely breathtaking – and speak to breadth and depth of spending by the vast Koch network on the midterms,” wrote Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post. – Phillip Brownlee
