Opinion Line Extra (Sept. 17)
So what difference would it make if Greg Orman is “a Democrat in disguise”? He’s not Pat Roberts.
Before some independent voters think Orman is the answer, remember he voted for Obama and has contributed to Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton. He is in favor of more restrictions on gun ownership and will caucus with the majority. Why wouldn’t he know now whom he will caucus with?
Orman has changed his party affiliation three times. That means he has no core beliefs other than getting the best position for himself. If he is elected to office, his vote will always reflect what is best for Greg Orman and not what is best for the country.
So Pat Roberts has hired a hotshot professional spinmeister to handle the rest of his campaign? That surely means we’ll get a heavy barrage of twisted truths and doctored data from now on, and we won’t believe most of it. The mute button is going to get a lot of action.
Someone needs to inform Roberts that Obama is not running for election. He has already won both times, and he even won the popular vote.
So the Republicans rail about a Paul Davis appointee to the K-12 efficiency commission because of a statement about school consolidation. So what happens? The potential list for legislative consideration includes school consolidation.
The current politics and governance of this state make me, for the very first time in my life, ashamed to be a Kansan.
The job recovery lost some steam last month. I am sure it will be much stronger just before the election, when President Obama’s Labor Department will report a million new jobs and an unemployment rate of near zero. It’s just an estimate, you know.
The IRS is systematically losing the e-mails of every employee who might be subpoenaed to testify in the targeting of conservative groups. Our governmental corruption now includes destruction of evidence.
The more I read The Wichita Eagle online, the happier I am that we moved out of Kansas.
If some ideas for laws are “common sense,” then why do we need to spend time and money making them laws?
If you have a job paying low wages, then why do you have a family to support? Why didn’t you get job skills, etc., before you had a family?
We do not need any tax money collected from our citizens targeted for “job development,” and I will not vote for any sales tax that includes funds dedicated to it.
I’m not a strict creationist, but it seems more logical that matter came out of “spirit” (consciousness) than vice versa.
Ironically, the Food and Drug Administration controls what’s in your peanut butter jar, but can’t scientifically substantiate anything in medical marijuana.
