The zoo is a great value. I can pay $125 a year for family to go any time of the year. That is saying a lot, since there are not many things to do in Sedgwick County. Quit being cheap and support the things we do have.
I worry about what’s next in rising food costs. I’ll bet those Sedgwick County commissioners don’t go grocery shopping very often. Why not help the middle-income folks who are getting clobbered by this economy? It’s just bad timing to commit $5 million for a barn.
Great zoo. But it needs help. Sedgwick County has no other outstanding attractions. Amusement or water parks? Zero. Towne West is a ghost town. Casinos are not family destinations.
It’s all about timing. That’s what the Sedgwick County Zoo has to understand. Nobody wants to see Cinda and Stephanie go. We love them and are proud of them. But check the dollars, folks. The state and county are woefully short on dollars enough just to support our infrastructure.

Is the reluctance to build a new barn for the elephants at the Sedgwick County Zoo a sign that the GOP is on its way out here in Kansas?
It’s hard to imagine the amount of malice directed at our president. He is a far better man and president than many of you think he is.
Obama had to finally cry “uncle” in his total pullout of troops and unwillingness to go after ISIS. This amounts to a tacit admission that Dick Cheney has been right all along about the Middle East terrorists.
Containing radical Islam is like trying to store antimatter in a Mason jar.
If Gov. Sam Brownback’s father won’t let him run the combine, why did we?
Candidate Greg Orman says he will caucus with whichever party controls the Senate, if he is elected. This is a candidate with no core principles.
Many coaches and managers end up losing championships because they are afraid to take chances during a big game. Not so for manager Kevin Hooper of the Wichita Wingnuts. Those in attendance Saturday night saw a riverboat gambler make all the right calls.
