Opinion Line Extra (Sept. 15)
All of this two-party arrogance and accusing amounts to childishness. Americans want our leaders working together in harmony on the big issues. News flash to politicians: We do not have a shortage of reality TV shows to watch.
If the U.S. Supreme Court isn’t going to rule against the Westboro Baptist Church, then surely the black mass planned in Oklahoma can’t and won’t be stopped by the government. You can’t always simply ignore evil. Sometimes you have to educate people about it in order to stifle it.
Oh, the humanity! I have to provide my Social Security number, birth certificate and some other documentation to get a driver’s license? I’ve never been so appalled. If I have to prove my identity to get a credit card or buy a house, I may just leave the country.
Baby boomers’ visits to fast-food restaurants have dropped 18 percent in the past year. But visits to more upscale restaurants have gone up 20 percent. People want quality. Big retailers, please take notice. Enough with the junk.
Is Bob Dole running for office? You might think so given his multiple tours around the state. Maybe Dole can get a sleeper sofa at the rental house where Pat Roberts has his recliner chair.
Bob Dole and Pat Roberts need to be on a park bench, feeding the squirrels. Oh, and just like in his TV ads, Roberts could salute the statues. Just like us, the squirrels won’t make sense of what they’re saying.
In any campaign, the mudslingers are the ones with the actual dirt on their hands. As of late, Roberts’ hands are caked in it.
I thought I would never see the day when Pat Roberts would pull every dirty trick in the book to keep a Democrat’s name on the ballot when the Democrat wants his name taken off the ballot. Roberts sure is shaking in his boots that he may lose. That must be the way he does things in the Senate.
Greg Orman, who is running against Sen. Pat Roberts for the U.S. Senate as an independent, is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
So Orman voted for Obama. That tells me all I need to know about him.
An Orman ad has bulky guys tugging ropes and promises he will take a commonsense approach. But I have yet to hear how he stands on any issues. He’s been a Democrat, Republican and now an independent. I’ll take the worst Republican over the best Democrat – I mean, independent.
I watched the debate between Orman and Roberts at the State Fair. Roberts came across like a grumpy old man who was mad that he had to be there.
