Opinion Line (Sept. 14)
How disheartening it is to see the local media crucify former Police Chief Norman Williams. Maybe he did have a blemish on his record, but evidently not of enough consequence to cause city government to take action.
A job is one of the most important things in a person’s life. Yet business wants as few as possible, and small-government types want governments to quit helping private business, which is making it worse. Citizens should be allowed to help create their own jobs through incentives. It’s a two-way street.

I don’t see where the state politicians do anything for Wichita.
My bucket list: Put God back in America. Close our borders. Congress obeys its own laws and goes on our health care plans. The only language used is English. Balance the budget. Fix our tax code. Respect our military and flag. Most of all, farewell to Obama in 2016.
I hold no malice against voters for Obama in 2008, but weren’t they paying attention before the 2012 election?
Our senators, and others, should remember that our president is better informed on the state of world affairs than anyone else, and while they may not agree with some of his decisions, he is trying to do his best for our country.
The intelligent criticism of Obama is nothing compared with the hate speech that was delivered about George W. Bush.
How much of the claimed $270 million more for education was not ordered by the Kansas Supreme Court? Just asking.
Trying to convince voters that Sam Brownback is an education booster is kind of like convincing them Billy the Kid was improving law enforcement by eliminating those officers too slow on the draw.
I have substantial reservations about Sam Brownback, and some about Pat Roberts. But the lunatic left barrage on everything but facts in issue – like Paul Davis’ car speeding backward down the road – says not to make things much worse by replacing them with Democrats.
Quick – name three things Sen. Pat Roberts has done. Thought so. It’s OK to put him out to pasture. He’ll have a lobbying job in no time.
After seeing who is supporting him and whom he has supported in the past, you should not let Greg Orman con you into thinking that he’s an independent. He’s a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat who will vote to pick your pocket every time he gets a chance.
The Kansas Supreme Court has never had a better opportunity than the case of Chad Taylor v. Kris Kobach to distance itself from the governor and once again establish itself as the nonpartisan institution of justice it is supposed to be. It should decide in favor of Taylor.
Every time I see someone with ugly tattoos, I always want to ask, “Just how drunk were you?”
