Government is not a for-profit, capitalistic business. If it were, every city street might be a toll road; public parks might be fenced off and an admission price charged for their usage. We do not need a businessman to run our county.
The goal of conservative politics in Kansas is to ensure the rich get richer and the poor, well, whatever. Conservatives don’t spend much time thinking about the poor. Before the next election, you need to figure out which side of the rich-poor line you’re actually on.
Conservative socialism – being content to let the less wealthy pay for the state services we all receive.
Why don’t we tax all Kansans at 100 percent and give all the money to schools? Schools can then give back to us what they think they don’t need. Or, we could just make the whole program result-based and really have something great.
Way to go, Wichita school district. We went to see my stepson perform at his concert at South High, and he and another student didn’t have a cello to use. They both just sat there on stage. Budget cuts?

If you want ISIS to get a stronger foothold in the United States, just keep voting for a Democrat in the White House.
We must have free speech, but the Muhammad art show in Texas had a clear agenda. Notice this group doesn’t have “Let’s Make Fun of Jesus” cartoon art shows. Religion is intolerant, controlling and unwilling to acknowledge other views.
Religion has been the cause of many atrocities in history. Religion is man’s attempt to reach God, while Christianity is what God did for man. There is a big difference.
We should all refrain from denigrating each other’s religion.
I know it’s not a life-or-death condition, but I really wish some pharmaceutical company would find a cure for hiccups.
I look forward on Mondays to Leonard Pitts’ direct, lucid, no-holds-barred and practical comments. His “educate, advocate and participate” approach to policy change relates well to all societal issues. Thanks, Eagle staff, for the excellent balance in opinion writers you publish weekly.
The Eagle is nothing more than a shill for the Democrat Party. Yes, we get some Cal Thomas and the great Charles Krauthammer, but the tone of every other article, every cartoon, every editorial is decidedly leftist, unionist and Democrat.
