Opinion Line (Sept. 11)
There are places in Kansas where you still can’t buy a cold beer on a hot day: Clay County just rejected a liquor-by-the-drink petition. And we have people pushing for more relaxed pot laws in Kansas? Really? In whose lifetime?
Like the elk, the elephants should be set free. Just don’t shoot them. Run, pachyderms, run!
Fighting ISIS is not starting a new war, but a continuation of the existing war on terror. We may fight this war another 40 years before Muslim extremism is eliminated.
Many young liberals would rather die before becoming old conservatives.
How’s that boycotting of Burger King working out for the Democrats?
Why write an editorial (“Not on the ballot,” Sept. 9 Eagle Editorial) concerning Harry Reid’s and President Obama’s names being invoked by Kansas Republicans? All we’ve heard from the Democratic leadership for more than seven years is how it’s all Bush’s fault. He hasn’t been on the ballot for 10 years.
Obama had everything to do with Kansas’ projected deficit. His relentless war on private aircraft cost us 30 percent of our aircraft jobs.
One of Gov. Sam Brownback’s ads touts the reduction in welfare rolls. It’s interesting to note there has been a concurrent increase in the number of people being served by food pantries.
The governor’s commercials might not have to tell us how to get out of poverty if his policies had not put us there in the first place.
All Brownback wants is total control of everything in Kansas – people, programs, government, insurance, local, state. Please vote “no” to him.
I’m sick of seeing buckets of ice water being dumped on people.
You’re shocked that guns allegedly were fired and brandished at a kids’ football game? What did you expect with our “anywhere, anytime” gun laws?
The comprehensive lists of “Friday’s Football Scores” and “Next Week’s Schedule” were great (Sept. 6 Sports). I hope The Eagle will print the information each week during the high school season.
If you are going to make an effort with your grammar, please do away with “like,” “anyways” and “I seen.” My clenched jaw and grinding teeth will thank you.
