Opinion Line (May 5)

If Jesus were alive today, he would walk into our Legislature and tip over the desks and throw everyone out, just as he did when the greedy businessmen took over the temple.


Our elected officials could use more common sense for the common good. There is a sinful emphasis on “me,” “mine” and “my political party,” and not concern for all Kansans and the “least of these.”


Only on Fox News will you hear what is really going on with this government from both sides. The alphabet networks are for those who want to keep their heads under the sand for fear of the truth.


If the city needs $2 million for the bus system, then why doesn’t it cut about 15 high-paying bureaucrats who spend most of their time justifying their jobs, and use this money for the bus system?


It is time to eliminate the highly paid full-time Sedgwick County commissioners or eliminate the cost of the entire county manager’s office. Taxpayers can no longer afford to pay for duplicate services.


County Commissioners Jim Howell and Karl Peterjohn say it’s important to prioritize county spending as they speak to funding the zoo. But they support spending $10,000 to audit the 2014 purchase of the IRS building. Do we not have a county appraiser? Some prioritizing.


Republicans have a woman, an African-American and two Hispanics running for the 2016 presidential nomination. Democrats have a rich, white career politician running who is old enough to collect Social Security. My, how things have changed.


Why would anyone vote for Hillary Clinton when she has been caught in several lies and immoral activities? We need someone who loves the USA and doesn’t want to remake it in their image.


I thought I saw Sen. Pat Roberts walking down the street with Elvis the other day. No, wait – he is in Washington, D.C., I think. I never hear his name on any bills that would help Kansas.


The police officers have been arrested. Now it is time to arrest the firebugs and the thieves known as looters. Let them clean up their own mess and pay for all the damage they did. Let’s have justice for all crimes, even the ones they place upon themselves.


While taking advantage of this weather to go for walks, you should carry a lighted flashlight, especially those of you with children or pushing a baby carriage. You can easily see where you’re going. But when you’re walking in the street, especially at dusk, drivers cannot see you.
