Thanks to the generosity of area arts supporters – and one in particular – the second-annual Art Day of Giving last Friday was a tremendous success. The 24-hour fundraiser, which included festivals and arts performances throughout the city, raised $1.2 million, more than twice what it raised last year. The total was boosted by an anonymous gift of $370,000 to the Wichita Public Library Foundation. The donations will benefit 55 area arts and cultural organizations. Praise also goes to the Wichita Community Foundation and its partners for coordinating the event and believing in the value of the arts. – Phillip Brownlee
