Robert Kailer’s letter to The Eagle on Jan. 10 overlooks one thing: Failure to comply with police instructions is not cause or justification, nor does it excuse, the execution of an innocent man. Period.


If you’re OK with Bibles to be given out a school, then you should be OK with distributing the Torah or Quran, too. Funny how the shoe can’t be on the other foot.


Ohio removes from voter lists any who fail to vote in two consecutive federal elections, but sends a letter. Please write whether Sedgwick County also sends a letter. We may be more restrictive than Ohio, supposedly the strictest.


Cattle theft is up. Wife sent me to the store a couple times in the last two weeks. Given the price of beef, I could give a good guess why people are stealing cattle.


As grandma said when you called another names, “It takes one to know one.”


When will our city, county, state and national leaders understand we really don’t mind paying our fair share by taxation, but we absolutely hate the way those tax dollars are foolishly spent, often for self promotion or personal financial gain.


The real reason President Trump canceled his trip to the UK is the Queen doesn’t serve Big Macs at state dinners.


A special taxing district for a franchise restaurant in an already booming growth area? Ridiculous. Those should be reserved for areas where growth has stagnated and needs encouragement.


Why is illegal to fly my drone within five miles of an airport, but planes and helicopters leaving Eisenhower can buzz my house just above the tree tops one mile west of the airport?


Democrats better pray they can find someone better than Oprah as their candidate for president in 2020.


A private meeting with the president is exactly that, private. Past presidents have expressed themselves in not so flattering ways during private meetings without sneaky, opportunist cowards blabbing to the public.


Careful, or we’ll have those immigrants in Lindsborg thinking they’re better than the rest of us.
