Opinion Line Extra (April 27)

President Obama certainly is spending a lot of time being friendly with this country’s enemies and creating enemies out of our friends.

It is apparent that our president believes the wacko leftist, Marxist philosophies of the 1960s. He and Michelle probably have a Che Guevara poster hanging on their bedroom door in the White House.

Why don’t we list what Republicans have built compared with what Democrats have torn down? All anyone needs to do is show the damage that Obama has done to America.

The IRS didn’t target conservative organizations. It targeted conservative organizations posing as social welfare organizations.

Want to bet the Legislature and Sam Brownback will come back and raise the sales tax before they put an income tax back on the earnings of owners of LLCs? We’ll end up paying more for our bologna, and they’ll have more for vacations and donations to Brownback and his buddies.

Brownback should have a tattoo on his forehead that says “bankrupt.” You stupid Republicans voted him in. Now you’re really getting it. He is going to raise your taxes. I am sure glad I have a neighbor who taught me all the tricks to get food stamps, welfare and free rent.

Five years ago the nation was struggling out of the Great Recession, but Kansas was doing pretty well overall. Schools, highways, tax structure and bond ratings were respectable. Could politicians make progress now if they just admitted that perhaps the targeted tax cuts had gone too far, too quickly?

If people are not spending welfare money on liquor, lottery tickets, cigarettes, etc., there should be no problem in banning such expenditures. It is a shame that poor decisions by those who abuse the system demonstrate the need for this legislation, but it should be done. It is just common sense.

Anyone who compares a welfare recipient to the farmers who feed us and to oil companies, which employ hundreds of thousands of people and produce the product that gets millions to work, should grab the toolbox and tighten a few loose screws.

The city shouldn’t get a penny to buy sand stockpiles until it has removed all available sand from the streets. This mess, which is so dangerous to motorcyclists, is recyclable. There are sandbars and filled-up curbs everywhere.

If anytime soon I feel the need to give money away, I will just drive down the turnpike to the Kansas Star Casino. I wish I could sue it for what it has done to me. It’s the tightest casino in the Midwest.

The Eagle did a great job on the Earth Day coverage. I would like to see facts and stories spotlighted more often on environmental improvement. It’s a good thing.
