Opinion Line (Nov. 25)

As a doctor, do I need to have cancer to treat a cancer patient? Do I need to go inside a Tyson chicken plant to know it’s bad for the local people and the community? An obvious no to both.

I drive by the Tyson plant at Emporia five days a week and have for three years. Never once have I noticed a smell.

I live in lower mid-town. To get home from the east side, I used to drive thru Old Town. Never again. Central all the way for me. I don’t like Big Brother watching me.

I don’t understand the complaints about tickets being issued for minor traffic violations in Old Town. Why can’t WPD use a new tool if it reveals traffic violations? Those laws exist for public safety.

KU football captains not shaking hands with OU’s captains during pregame coin toss is just another sign of a classless and out-of-control athletic department. Captains are supposed to be leaders.

The KU football team should have been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for refusing to shake hands before the game.

Since the Democratic Party seems to be imploding, can we expect Leonard Pitts or Davis Merritt to tell us why? They sure take on the Republicans.

Sean Snyder deserves a shot at the K-State coaching jobs. He is special teams coach and special teams are responsible for many wins. Bill Snyder resurrected K-State football. If Snyder wants his son to be coach, that should be respected.

“Judge” Jeanine Pirro, a Fox News “law and order” talking head, was stopped for driving 119 mph. She said she didn’t notice she was going that fast. Fellow Wichitans, try driving 119 mph down Kellogg; did you notice your speed?

Wichita drivers stink. Every day on my bike or in my car I see crazy people running red lights, speeding, driving distracted, causing accidents with serious injuries — but the loudest among us whine about Big Brother?

I had car trouble while in Old Town and the employee at Bella Luz was very helpful. She showed compassion, kindness and service. Superabundant grace indeed. Thank you very much.
