Opinion Line (April 16)

Looks to me like Republicans are running as many candidates for president as possible. They aren’t really trying to battle one another. It just gives them more chances to criticize Hillary Clinton.

This country cannot survive four more years with a Democrat president. Everyone of working age will either be on welfare or working for the government. The Democrats will have met their goal.

How arrogant of the media on the east and west coasts that they feel the need to tell the rest of us how we should think. Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show” should keep his lame comments about Kansas to himself. I’d rather be right than trendy.

The restrictions on spending imposed on welfare recipients should also apply to those small-business owners who pay no state income tax. There is no essential difference between the two groups.

Has anybody filed a missing-persons report for Grover Norquist? Kansas Republicans are raising taxes and the man behind the “I swear I won’t raise your taxes pledge” hasn’t been heard from. Has he been kidnapped? Is there a ransom to be paid?

Lower penalties for marijuana possession will raise usage, not lower it. It will be another opportunity for Gov. Sam Brownback to add a sin tax.

So I have to get background checks and permits to give someone a ride in my vehicle and get a bit of money for it, but I can buy a gun, conceal it, carry it anywhere and shoot it off without a permit, check or anything? Amazing, incredible and dumb.

My sister-in-law told me that in the end-times, Christians will be killed in increasing numbers across the world and at home denied the ability to work or have a business unless they “conformed.” I told her our laws would not allow that. Seems I was wrong and she was right.

When someone has a sign on his property that says “Keep out,” what is it about your thought process that makes you want to do the opposite? Parents need to teach their children that every yard is not their yard.

I am weary of the incessant lawyer advertisements. Do we have to see another cartoon-character ambulance chaser with somber tones telling us, “We will get whatever you need, for whatever wrong you have been exposed to”? This is craziness on parade.

So people didn’t support Joyland, it fell into disrepair, and had to be demolished. Get over it.

I would like you more if I didn’t have to like you on Facebook. Enough with all the “likes.”
