Congratulations to Exploration Place, which is celebrating 15 years of enriching and entertaining south-central Kansas with discounted admission ($5) and special events this weekend (1-4 p.m. Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday). Since 2000 the $62 million cultural and architectural treasure on the Arkansas River has weathered some identity crises and fiscal instability, as well as two rough economic downturns. But the children’s science museum has found its audience and groove with the leadership of executive director Jan Luth and the major and ongoing funding commitment of Sedgwick County. Part of the smart, successful strategy is to keep the changes coming, such as the $2 million “Design, Build, Fly” exhibit in the works. The future promises many more fun times and happy birthdays for Exploration Place. – Rhonda Holman
