Opinion Line (April 7)
Thank you, coach Gregg Marshall and family, for choosing us. As longtime residents of this community, my wife and I are so delighted to experience this good feeling again.

For a few weeks in the winter, our college sports programs keep Kansas from being the laughingstock of the country all 52 weeks of the year.
On the national stage, Democrats and other left-wingers are predictable race-baiters, equality baiters, secular zealots, have a mob mentality, and are into the personal destruction of those whose views they oppose.
If the pizzeria in Indiana had been owned by a black or Muslim family, there would not have been one word in the media. It seems that it is open season on white Christians. The gay community should realize you cannot change hearts and minds by using force and intimidation.
If the federal government was doing its job in defending our God-given, constitutionally protected rights, would states even find it necessary to enact laws restoring religious freedom?
Religious conservatives should learn a lesson from the events in Indiana and Arkansas. They can bang their drums and work to get out the vote, but when push comes to shove, it’s the corporate CEOs who have the power to tell the GOP what to do.
If I had a business that served the public based on my religious preferences, but your business served the people I preferred not to serve, I would boycott your business and tell others to do the same. This is how ridiculous this thing is getting.
Anyone else sick and tired of the slippery slope LGBT folks have put us on?
County Commissioners Richard Ranzau, Karl Peterjohn and Jim Howell appear to be diligently working to impair helpful programs and actions that would benefit vulnerable people or groups. People with physically disabling conditions have now joined the growing list of those experiencing their wrath of shortsighted small-mindedness.
I wonder if the voters will pay any more attention to the legislators urging a “no” vote on pot than the legislators paid to the voters on the school budgets.
After the marijuana vote passes, I expect the Opinion Line comments will mellow out a little.
Why is it that many trash companies think it’s OK to have non-latching lids on the trash carts they provide for their customers? We live in Kansas, for crying out loud.
