Opinion Line (April 5)
A third of the state thinks one game against KU is all that matters. A third of the state thinks total number of Final Fours and national championships is all that matters. And a third of the state thinks Bill Snyder’s health is all that matters.
I want to congratulate WSU for having the foresight to do what was necessary to retain arguably the best coach to ever coach the black and gold. Way to go, athletic director Eric Sexton, and all involved in the decision.
How about we take Gregg Marshall’s salary and give it to the teachers, policemen and firemen? He’s a basketball coach and makes plenty. Think of what we could do in the classroom with that amount of money. The system is so backward.
So while Marshall is getting $3 million to stay in Wichita, Kansans on welfare have had their benefits cut to 36 months and had a $25 daily limit put on ATM withdrawals? (Thanks to Sen. Michael O’Donnell.) Just another example of Kansas and its priorities.
Have you ever heard anyone from any school district say, “Oh, yes, we have enough money to get the job done”? I didn’t think so.
Thank you to Gov. Sam Brownback. It’s time the citizens can protect themselves. We shouldn’t have to pay for a license to carry something we have a constitutional right to carry.
I’d say Brownback has taken us back to the 19th-century guns-everywhere culture, but actually that era had stricter gun control in most towns than we do now. Where is Wyatt Earp (a guy who kept his towns gun-free) when you need him?
I never had a gun, but I’m getting one to save those unarmed folks in grocery stores and libraries and such. Who needs training? Just point and shoot, right? Maybe next I’ll get a horse. Never had one, but all you need to know is “Giddy-up” and “Whoa,” right?
One hundred and twenty-five years ago, Kansas residents had to park their weapons at the marshal’s office while in town and then could buy a bottle of liquor at the general store while buying groceries. In Kansas, progress was our most important product. What happened?
Kansas: We’re as progressive as Mississippi (in 1960).
Summary of the government of Brownbackistan: of the Kochs, by the Kochs, for the Kochs. And if Sam Williams is elected mayor, the same will be true about the city of Wichita.
Both The Wichita Eagle and the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union have endorsed Jeff Longwell for mayor. Therefore I will be voting for Sam Williams.
Wichita doesn’t get involved in Topeka’s local elections. So why is Topeka-based Americans for Prosperity supporting Sam Williams for mayor of Wichita? If he wins, think there’s any chance AFP will be pulling his strings?
Mr. President: A nonbinding agreement without details is not the type of Iran solution the world is looking for.
