Opinion Line (April 2)
I was wondering if the Airbus employees will have to park off-campus and ride a shuttle to work after they move onto Wichita State’s campus. Or is that a luxury only for students who are paying to attend WSU?
The Kansas Whiners Association claims education doesn’t get enough money. But WSU can afford to move some operations off-campus to the current Airbus facilities, and the Maize and Derby school districts can afford new buildings and sports.
I’ve found the answer to school funding: Get the NRA to support it. No legislator would vote against it then. It would be political suicide to do so.
I don’t feel sorry for USD 259 one bit. It has all the money it needs. It has millions of dollars in reserves, and more than two dozen employees make six-figure incomes. If it wants more money, they can all take a 10 percent pay cut to pay for necessities.
Look at Indiana, Arkansas and Kansas. We will never be united as a country with that sort of philosophy.
They chant “Get rid of religious freedom laws!” Does anyone else see the irony? It’s a direct attack on Christians holding to their beliefs. The liberals can be protective of the gay community, but see the need to undercut Christianity. The hate from the left is so hypocritical.
Peace will never come to the Middle East until there is a complete withdrawal from all Israeli-occupied territories, including the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, the Golan Heights and the U.S. Congress.
To the readers of The Wichita Eagle, regardless of faith, I wish you all a beautiful Easter weekend. May your spirits be lifted with joy, hope and the promise of a better world after Obama’s reign has ended.
It is good that there is infant formula provided for mothers in need. But we should remind expectant mothers that the perfect food for babies is free, always available and already warm. Encourage breast-feeding. For the working mother, insurance plans are required to cover the cost of a breast pump.
The campaign ads in the Wichita mayoral election are disgusting. Why do conservative politicians always head straight to the gutter when they run for office?
Derby residents: We do have another choice for mayor. Write in Dion Avello on April 7.
Our mother’s 90th-birthday celebration was made extra special when someone stole her walker from the restaurant foyer. Surely it must have been taken by someone from out of town. No one from Wichita could sink so low.
