Opinion Line Extra (March 31)

Springtime reminder for those who may have forgotten. Bicyclists ride with traffic. Walkers and runners go toward traffic. Nobody should travel down the middle of the street.

Ah, the NCAA Tournament, where everyone from coaches to schools to ESPN gets rich off the talents of “student athletes” who may get an education for their efforts – as long as they don’t get hurt – but little else from a megamillion-dollar pie they never get a slice of.

KU basketball teams don’t “get up” for big games. They build an impressive record against overmatched opponents. More often than not, they fold against tough competition like in the NCAA Tournament.

Both candidates for mayor want to give tax breaks for the arts. This does not surprise me, as that is what politicians do – use our tax dollars to pick winners and losers. In this case, the arts win and the little taxpayer loses.

The Republicans have Democrats trained like Pavlov’s dogs: He rang a bell every time he fed them, and soon just ringing the bell caused the dogs to drool. The Republican bell is the word “compromise,” but when they ring it, instead of slobber they get glassy-eyed, slack-jawed stupidity.

Want to know how to attract business to Kansas? Make education a pillar of excellence.

If there’s supposed to be no Kansas income tax, how come I owe $700 to the Brownback state of lies?

I was laughing until it hurt watching “Hee Haw” recently. Turns out that actually it was news footage of state lawmakers proposing and enacting their manifesto upon us. Now, the hurt won’t go away.

No problem with the Second Amendment here. You should be able to own all the muskets and shot you desire. Our Founding Fathers had no knowledge of AK-47s or cop-killer bullets.

Hillary Clinton makes Leona Helmsley look like an angel.

Unfortunately, during Obama’s reign, there have been more missing documents than transparent documents.
