Opinion Line (March 31)
Keeping Gregg Marshall as the WSU men’s basketball coach is imperative. If the highest levels of the WSU administration cannot figure that out, their Ph.D.s don’t demonstrate intelligence.
My kids have offered up their allowance. My mom will contribute a chunk of her Social Security check. I’m willing to give up 75 percent of my beer budget. Let’s start one of those “fund” pages and make sure we keep our coach.
If Marshall wants to be second fiddle to football somewhere, let him go. Such an experience might ferment a desire in him to return to WSU, which would then be in the catbird seat.
It’s still March and I’m still mad.
I predict that the next mayor of Wichita will be bald. Which is good. We need bald leadership.
Sam Williams chaired Gov. Sam Brownback’s K-12 Student Performance and Efficiency Commission. He supported restrictions on teacher negotiations. Easy decision for me now. I’m voting for Jeff Longwell.
Thank you, Eagle, for the clarifications regarding Williams’ campaign attacks on Longwell. The negative and misleading facts used by Williams reveal his true character and demonstrate the type of city leader he would be. It would be bad for Wichita.
An Eagle editorial board endorsement for Longwell equals a vote for Williams.
The new gun law will give us a completely unregulated militia. Given the Second Amendment as written, that appears to be unconstitutional. Regrettably, the gun lobby and Supreme Court have erased that half of the amendment without the required amendment process.
Our nuclear negotiations with Iran were to be completed by April Fools’ Day. That pretty much says it all.
Does anyone have any idea what Obama’s Middle East policy is? As near as I can tell, he wants to be able to tell his grandkids that he was president of the United States when World War III started.
My son, an Eagle Scout, just informed me that he doesn’t really want to stay in Kansas after graduation. He wants to be a teacher, and he reads the news. Elections have consequences.
Move to Kansas where, with June Cleaver as our model, we are training our women to wear high heels, hose, dresses and frilly aprons while they do the cooking and cleaning.
I spent most of the weekend watching softball at Two Rivers Youth Club. Please leave your radios and pets at home. Not everyone enjoys your taste in music, and no one thinks your pet is as cute as you do. What if everyone brought a radio and a pet?
