Opinion Line Extra (March 26)
Sunday our two great Kansas basketball teams made us proud. The Kansas fans who booed Gov. Sam Brownback made us embarrassed.
Was the “Kings of Kansas” T-shirt that Brownback wore after the Kansas-WSU game describing his and Kris Kobach’s conceived positions in the state government?
Let’s get rid of the controversy over voting rights and make all Democrats happy. Just let everyone on Earth vote. Let the same people who designed the website for the ACA set up voting by Internet. Why bother with registration, citizenship or one-man-one-vote?
So alcohol and cigarettes are sins, and politicians want to raise taxes on them to balance the budget. Why stop there? Why not raise taxes on guns and ammo? Call it a trifecta sin tax. I’ll bet the extra money gained will balance the budget in one year.
Why do so many legislators hate public school teachers?
When did Americans for Prosperity become the constituents of the majority of this Legislature? Who listens to the people in their districts anymore? Why should they when they have the Koch robots to tell them how to vote? Wise up, people.
A Rand Corp. study found that the average hit rate for well-trained NYPD officers involved in gunfights was just 18 percent. That hit rate is consistent with the “normal” hit rate in armed encounters. By taking away the “trained” part, our state government is missing the target even worse.
The Second Amendment calls for a “well regulated militia.” The Legislature and governor evidently haven’t read the part about there being any form of regulation. This is not the first time they have not done their homework and, unfortunately, the way they are going it won’t be the last.
Spring-a-ling-a-ding-a-ping, zing. That is the sound of ricochets. Get used to it.
I applaud Starbucks for trying to start a conversation on race. However, if the national media continue to portray every black arrest as proof of police racism, we are not going to get very far.
If they don’t get Hillary Clinton’s server soon, she will, with a straight face, report to us that it accidentally fell into her swimming pool while she was doing her yoga.
Draft-dodging coward Dick Cheney is still offering worthless opinions.
The biggest coward and draft dodger to ever serve as vice president has the grapes to call President Obama the worst president of his lifetime. Well, I believe there are several ahead of him. Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush and Bush would certainly qualify.
More government monkey business at and with the IRS. It is well past time for it to be abolished and replaced with the Fair Tax.
We used to be the melting pot, and we came together to form a great country. Now we have to be divided to satisfy everyone.
