Opinion Line (March 25)

I have to ask Ted Cruz whom he loves more – himself or his country. And if the federal government is so bad, why does he want to work there?

Why isn’t there a peep out of the “birthers” when Cruz runs for president, though he was born in another country (Canada) and has one of those funny-sounding non-Anglo last names they find so offensive in our current president? Ah, double standard, thy name is neocon.

If all it takes to be eligible to be president of the United States is an American mother, how did anyone question Barack Obama’s eligibility?

So now the Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity is going to hold accountable any lawmaker who supports Medicaid expansion in Kansas. That translates to “do as I say, or no money for your next campaign.” Who cares about the 150,000 Kansans who are uninsured? How sad is that?

It is an uncaring government that takes health care and food away from its citizens. Our politicians don’t want to make health care available, and they take 7 percent of the food off our table through sales tax.

A small-business owner I know has created no new jobs, and his employees continue to struggle with low wages and no health care or retirement benefits. Where are the facts as to how the tax cuts have benefited Kansas? Let’s consider closing or narrowing the exemption.

All Kansas income tax payers received a tax cut, not just small-business owners and the wealthy. The Eagle should stop publishing letters, comments and editorials to the contrary.

The government just took 35 percent of my bonus and will give it to the moochers on welfare to pay for their Cadillacs. I don’t think that’s fair. Do you?

So far the only idea I’ve seen from Sam Williams is that with money you can smear your opponent.

I’m wondering if March Madness is what James Naismith had in mind when he invented the game of basketball.

KU faithful, be not of faint heart. Spring football is right around the corner.

If the world had ended on Sunday, I wonder if Monday’s Eagle would have given more coverage to Armageddon or some silly basketball game.

Sunday the Shockers amazed, dazzled and thrilled us. What a team. Good luck in Cleveland.
