Opinion Line (June 26)

President Trump wants to surround himself with those loyal to him instead of those who are loyal to the Constitution. This is the action of someone who wants to be a despot. His attacks upon a free press only confirm this desire.


Conundrum: What are people supposed to believe when a liar professes he is not a liar? If he is a liar, how are people supposed to discern when he’s lying and when he’s not? Truth is always truth. Think about it.


We need to require absolute hacker-proof voting machines. Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on elections. We should make sure the act of voting “where the rubber hits the road” is accurate.


Republicans who claim that Democrats need to realize their party lost and start working with the current administration need to remember that there is a reason they were dubbed the “party of no.” Eight years of refusing to work with President Obama should have prepared them for backlash.


America, brace yourself, for after blaming everything on Hillary Clinton the past few years, including the birther movement, the right wing and the president will now blame her for the Russian hacking, exonerating Trump.


As a young American, what I see are two political parties that have become so rabid about staying in power that they are both corrupt beyond redemption. Shame on you for giving us Trump and defending his despicable behavior. You can keep trying to spin this, but we see the truth.


Do we have a new generation of greed and connection that want to demolish Century II? We lost the Miller Theater and almost lost the Orpheum.


Individual mayors and governors supporting and implementing the Paris Climate Accord? Don’t be ridiculous.


The man who robbed a bank in Kansas City to get away from his wife was sentenced to six months home confinement. There is a judge with a sense of humor.


No, the most educated among us do not have the least common sense. Common sense is neither aided nor hindered by education.
