Opinion Line (June 20)

For Conservatives, there is no public good other than everyone chasing their own wealth, and for whom “no hypocrisy is too great, no conspiracy too insane,” as demonstrated by their elected president.

Liberals are to America as termites are to a good wood-framed house, eating the structure from the inside out.

If The Eagle is publishing in depth, thoughtful conservative opinions, please use "thinkers" such as David Brooks or George Will. Susan Stamper Brown's hate speech is just more of the same trash-talking, conservative nonsense.

My lawn mower gas can, filled with diesel fuel, cured a Maize neighbor from stealing any future gasoline. Justice was served!

Republicans are now lumping Kansas farmers in with the elderly, the disabled, and the poor as moochers so programs that aid them are cut so they can give more benefits to the rich.

Somewhere in the past I heard a theory about people rising to the level of their own incompetence. I think our representatives, senators and governor in Topeka have just proven that theory is a sound one. They apparently believe they get paid for wasting the taxpayers money instead of solving the states problems.

I resisted Breaking Cat News at first but it has quickly grown on me as a kind and warm part of my day in a mean world.

I would be more inclined to accept the tax hikes if there were a clear demonstration of spending cuts – or even sensible spending practices by the government.

Thinking that I am righteous and you are totally wrong solves nothing. Moderation and tolerance are much more effective when dealing with others.

Want to make sure you get a parking ticket in Wichita? Just park in the city lot south of the library. The parking meters there have markings you can't read about the hours you are required to pay. These decals are years worn and I have seen people on weekends standing scratching their heads because they don't know to pay or not.
