Opinion Line (May 13)

Dear former FBI Director James Comey: Please accept my apologies for the horrible way the president chose to fire you. I am embarrassed you were not shown the respect you deserved.

I got stopped by a cop for speeding. I used the Hillary Clinton argument that I did not intend to speed. It didn’t work. Wish that cop had been Comey.

Just so we’re clear: People with pre-existing mental health conditions have access to firearms and not health care.

Like putting Japanese Americans into internment camps, President Trump’s immigration order is the product of irrational fear and ignorance. What an awful legacy to repeat and compromise our nation’s values.

President Lincoln said, “If you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” Trump now has ultimate power as president. What character will he show us?

I bet 99 percent of the people who are demanding Trump release his tax returns wouldn’t even have a clue about tax law.

Have we sunk so low that Stephen Colbert’s vulgar show was not cut off network television? His words against the president were so vulgar that they can’t even be published in the paper.

Why doesn’t the state of Kansas lock the Carr brothers together in a 4- by-8 cell and throw away the key?

Plastic boards for Cowtown boardwalk? How tacky. Use wooden boards like were used back in the old days.

Kudos to Kansas City Archbishop Joseph Naumann for taking a long-overdue stand against Girl Scouts USA. I hope other Kansas bishops will follow his lead and turn to American Heritage Girls or other organizations.

I found The Eagle headline, “When restaurants need food porn, they call Peters,” offensive, tainting an otherwise interesting article. Poor editing, if you ask me.

I wish people (especially those in media) would stop saying “ at the end of the day” multiple times in every conversation. It’s ridiculous.
