Opinion Line Extra (March 16)

Jeff Longwell communicates right at us, and you have to guess what Sam Williams is saying.

It is hard to decide which is more pathetic – the losers at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house at OU, or the whining ninnies they have inspired.

I am still awaiting a credible candidate from the Democratic Party for president in 2016.

It is nice to see Hillary Clinton can play hardball with all of the other “politicians” in Washington.

Secretary of State John Kerry slammed the letter that 47 Republican senators wrote to Iran’s leaders. I hope that Kerry can see from his high horse that if Iran gets nuclear weapons it could very well cost millions of lives. It must not happen.

I’m having real trouble imagining FDR on Dec. 8, 1941, saying that we have the capacity to knock out the Japanese but we’re not going to be suckered into it.

I would rather our Republican Legislature and Republican governor cut sales tax instead of income tax.

It is hard to understand all the bloodshed and misery being caused by a difference of opinion in a ridiculous organized religion. If people were honest with themselves, they would realize all organized religions are a source of evil, and celebrate their own religion in their own private way.

You have to be kidding me. An elementary school with only 30 students is still open? How can a local school board cry about budget cuts when it allows a school of this size to remain open? This is the 21st century, not the horse and buggy days.

Years ago I heard James Dobson on Focus on the Family say, “We don’t want to reform the public schools, we want to bulldoze them.” That explains a lot about the Kansas Legislature and those of Dobson’s similar thinking.

My hat’s off to the Kansas attorney general for putting up a roadblock against marijuana being legal here. Our kids are already being dumbed down by our union-controlled schools.

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” What part of the Kansas Legislature’s move to let virtually anyone carry a gun with no special training or licensing constitutes “well regulated”?

If this country is serious about medical costs, stop insurance companies from selling health insurance. People can pay what they can afford when getting medical help.

I remember as a boy seeing newspaper stories about daylight saving time back East and thinking, “How stupid.” As a man I still feel the same way. May the rest of the USA join Arizona and Hawaii to not play with daylight saving time. Let our body cycles alone.

Daylight saving time. End it, don’t mend it.
