Gov. Sam Brownback spoke twice last week in Missouri to groups funded by conservative megadonor Rex Sinquefield. The topic of one speech was “the real story in Kansas.” Brownback’s version of that story is sunnier than what’s reflected in studies done by his Council of Economic Advisors. Those studies, according to a new review released by two Kansas organizations, show that Kansas’ economy has trailed neighboring states on overall output of goods and services, employment growth, wage growth and population. – Phillip Brownlee
