Kobach too accommodating to racist views

If Secretary of State Kris Kobach doesn’t want to risk being viewed as racist, he needs to be less accommodating to racist views. On his talk radio show this week (why is he still doing that show?), Kobach was asked by a caller if President Obama might announce one day that “any black person accused of a crime, charged with a crime, is not going to be prosecuted, regardless of the crime.” Though Kobach said he thinks that’s “unlikely,” he also said “it’s not a huge jump” and that he’s learned to “never say never” with Obama. Last November, a caller worried that Hispanics might one day kill and drive out white Americans. Kobach, who has built his career on demonizing illegal immigrants, responded that he didn’t think that would happen but he couldn’t completely rule it out. “Things are strange and they are happening,” he said. – Phillip Brownlee
