The Kansas Board of Regents made a list of the “10 Worst Colleges for Free Speech in 2014.” The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education wrote that the Board of Regents “threatened faculty speech throughout the state university system in December 2013 when it enacted an overly broad policy on the ‘improper use of social media.’” The controversial policy, which was prompted by a Twitter comment by a University of Kansas professor, was revised slightly in 2014, but the foundation complained that “it kept much of the problematic language, including a restriction on speech that ‘impairs … harmony among co-workers.’” – Phillip Brownlee
