Opinion Line Extra (March 3)

I often hear about wounded veterans needing basic help from the public. Our military condoned placing them in harm’s way. Therefore it is the military’s responsibility to take care of this, with zero cost to the veteran. No special fundraisers – this needs to come out of the military budget.

Did it occur to our state leaders that even if supply-side economics worked, a highly debatable assumption, it would take several years to kick in? The federal government could print money to cover the intervening deficits. The Kansas Constitution seems to preclude that possibility. Or maybe I am just missing a key piece of information.

Arthur Laffer, the discredited economist upon which Brownback’s tax scheme is based, says that it will take 10 years to work. We won’t have a state in 10 years. We will be annexed by Colorado after declaring bankruptcy. Our only hope is legalized marijuana.

Common Core is predatory and we can’t afford it. Kick this out of our state, and we will return money to the classroom. Act now, parents. The legislative session ends in a few short weeks. Call House Education Committee members Amanda Grosserode, Rob Bruchman, John Bradford and Ron Highland.

Our Kansas legislators must have their heads in the sand if they think that high school students “get sexual ideas” from a book. That only verifies the need for sex education for all students in our schools.

You can be the smartest, most educated person on Earth. But if you lack common sense, you are pretty stupid.

I formed an exploratory committee to run for president and we found that I do not have $1 billion to $2 billion, haven’t done any shady legal or illegal dealings, or falsified my combat or birth records. Therefore I don’t stand a chance.

Rudy Giuliani’s remarks on behalf of presidential hopeful Scott Walker – that President Obama is an amateur and that he doesn’t love his country – were another display of what is truly the matter with those on the radical right. They open their big, stupid mouths too often.

Rudy Giuliani for president. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Obama vetoed the Keystone XL pipeline bill? So much for his claim that he was going to work with Congress. It can’t be that he lied again, can it?

The KSU fans after the KSU-KU basketball game – no class.

Now that seemingly every sports reporter has felt the need to shame K-State students for storming the floor, I would like to congratulate the K-State basketball team for a terrific, hard-fought, emotional win over KU. That seems to have gotten lost in all the outrage over the court storming.
