The Wichita school superintendent gets paid $229,408, and the district may give him a $3,441 bonus. No wonder schools don’t think Gov. Sam Brownback is giving them enough money.

The best thing accomplished by President Obama in his two terms was the pardoning of a lot of turkeys.

My “thankful for” list this year: After eight years of telling me that everything Obama did was terrible, my Republican friends can spend the next four years telling me how everything Donald Trump does is great.

Trump won’t pursue charges against Hillary Clinton. That’s great, considering he never would have had that power anyway. Welcome to campaign lies, America.

And so the backpeddling begins.

“Trump is not my president” is being shouted by the same people who said we must always embrace the result of the electoral process.

It will give me great pleasure to say “good morning” in English to those low-educated Trump supporters who took back those jobs cleaning my hotel rooms.

Many of us look forward to Leonard Pitts’ column every week. You cannot have columnists Charles Krauthammer or Cal Thomas every day (thank heavens). Just skip Pitts on Mondays and read the excerpts of editorials from other Kansas newspapers.

I would not have written anything like what Pitts wrote, and I’m really offended by it. I’m sure if I did write something like that for publication, I would be labeled a racist.

In addition to his provocative wisdom, Pitts offered several action choices. As concerned citizens, we have ways to support vulnerable aspects of our national and global culture. Pitts named outstanding organizations to support. He needs to keep up the good work.

I totally agree that Pitts is nothing more than a troublemaker and bigot.

The national anthem is sung in homage to our country. It should be sung at a brisk pace. It should not be used as a showcase for the singer’s talent or creativity.
