Does Trump win doom Medicaid expansion in Kansas?

The election of many new moderate Republican and Democratic state lawmakers raised the prospect of expanding Medicaid in Kansas. But will the election of Donald Trump, who vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act, block that option? It’s unclear. During the campaign, Trump said that Medicaid should be used to provide health coverage to people who can’t afford private insurance. It also would be difficult politically to kick millions of people off Medicaid in states that have already expanded coverage. However, many Republicans in Congress oppose Medicaid expansion, and they passed a bill last year that would have phased out expanded Medicaid coverage over two years. Trump also has endorsed turning Medicaid into a block grant program. – Phillip Brownlee
