Opinion Line (Nov. 8)

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true. The other is to refuse to believe what is true. Vote Tuesday.

Diversity is good to a degree. It brings new ideas. But commonality is what binds us together. How do we stop the increasing polarization that is tearing us apart, and establish some commonality? Will it take another “justified” war?

I just got my new premium rate from the Affordable Care Act marketplace. My premium increased from $773 to $1,338. Someone please explain to me how this is affordable to anyone.

I get my insurance through the state and have never participated in the ACA’s insurance exchange. My 2017 premiums are increasing 51 percent next year while my income is increasing 0 percent. I don’t think the state can blame Obamacare.

A recent Opinion Line comment said a true sign of a narcissist is blaming everyone else when things go wrong. Are we talking about Gov. Sam Brownback or President Obama? They both fit.

Not long after the death of FDR, barely into his fourth term, presidential term limits were enacted. Aren’t we smart enough now to enact term limits for senators and representatives?

The liberals are writing checks that our grandkids are going to have to pay off. Do we expect our descendants to put on their big boy pants and control our debt when we can’t? We have to live within our means.

I finally understand the phrase “one toke over the line” – the Colorado state line, that is.

Reading the Constitution in its original form might be difficult for most persons under the age of 20, as many can’t read cursive.

I am 57 years old. I have owned dogs all my life, and I have never had a dog get a doggie cold.

If the convenience stores keep getting bigger, they will have to take “quick” out of their name.
