Sam Williams, CPA – can’t pretend anymore.
Williams was endorsed for mayor by The Eagle editorial board and is a former chairman of the Wichita Metro Chamber of Crony Capitalism – er, Chamber of Commerce. Each is reason enough for me not to vote for Sam Williams.
Williams won’t tell us how he voted on the sales tax. Duh – he has led the chamber, which poured in thousands of dollars attempting to pass the measure. Now he has forgotten that he hasn’t been a CPA since 1990. These are not qualities we want in our mayor.
Jeff Longwell has a lot of nerve claiming he has saved the taxpayers millions of dollars when it was he who pushed the west-side overpass to nowhere. And if he actually did save us millions, then why didn’t he apply that money toward water and infrastructure?
No wonder Wichita always looks outside of the city for consultants, when you consider the qualifications for some of the candidates running for mayor. Their backgrounds include misrepresentation, criminal records, delinquent taxpaying and bankruptcy.
Why not put the various ways of dealing with the state revenue shortfall on the ballot and let voters decide?
All I see from Republicans in Topeka are laws passed to stifle behavior at all levels – except, of course, on guns. God forbid we should curtail the ability to kill each other. They say politics is like driver’s ed: “D” is for driving forward and “R” puts you in reverse.
Sam Brownback and Scott Walker are two of a kind. It’s just a shame there are not several thousand more like them in government.
If ignorance is bliss, the Brownback bobbleheads in the Kansas House and Senate must be the most blissful fools in the country.
Conservatives, get off President Obama’s back about him not calling ISIS “Islamist.” You want to start a holy war with one-third of the Earth? He knows well whom we are fighting, and to poke a finger in the eye of Islam just to satisfy conservatives is suicide.
ISIS’ activities are proof of how Satan (the embodiment of pure evil) works in this physical world. Circumstantial evidence, but evidence nonetheless. Whether a terrorist kills an innocent person or is killed himself, Satan wins.
You probably won’t see storming the court at Koch Arena, because the average Shocker fan fears that any resultant injuries might not be covered by Medicare.
The Dena DeRose Trio was amazing and fun. Thanks to professors Lisa Hittle, Craig Curry and Friends University for bringing the trio to Wichita.
